The 30th October 2010 was the best day of my life! I was sitting in the Main Event at The Oakes and I finally decided to trust Jesus as my Saviour and follow Him for the rest of my life.
As I sat and listened to the sacrifice that Christ made for me, I was filled with thankfulness and awe. How could a God so big and so holy love me that much? Incredible news!
In the months following I couldn’t stay away from The Oakes. Each time I visited I knew that there was something different about these people. They truly wanted to live for Jesus. I came on Support Team nearly every week. I wanted to serve alongside these people, I wanted to know more of God and his good character, and I wanted to give the campers the best holiday ever.
Eight years later, I am blessed with a job that allows me to invest in the Support Team just like someone invested in me. What an encouragement they are: these young people are so eager to give up their weekends and time off to work incredibly hard on camps.
The Support Team help out “behind the scenes” (washing dishes, cleaning toilets, etc), they work alongside the team in the games and activities and do any other jobs that help us run camps. We value them so much and we would love more and more Support Team each week to work alongside us.
If you are 15 years or older (there is really no maximum age) and enjoy residential ministry, why not join our Support Team and come and help out on the occasional camp. It really is easy to get involved – just fill out the form at:
