Thank you for your faithfulness in praying regularly for The Oakes. We know that you are praying because we are seeing the answers on a daily basis. Here is a summary of some things you might find useful to help you to pray:

“Monthly Prayer” updates

These have a prayer point for each day of the month plus a letter from a team member. You sign up for the email version at www.oakes.org.uk/emails or please let us know if you would like to receive these by post (phone 0114 2359995).

PrayerMate

You can also subscribe to these daily prayer points through PrayerMate, an excellent, free app for Android and iOS..

Visit www.oakes.org.uk/prayermate to download the app and search for The Oakes in the “Camps & Conferences” section.

“Oakes News” (this)

There are prayer points related to each article along the bottom of each page to encourage you to pray as you read.

There is also a noticeboard page which includes other sound bites of news which we hope will prompt your prayers. On the same page (p23) in the PDF version, there is a list of our next six months of camps, which you can cut out and use as a bookmark. Please use it to remember every precious camp in your prayers.

Meeting together

A small group gather together for an hour of prayer at 8:00pm on the first Thursday of each month (except in January and September). They meet at a venue in Fulwood with a second gathering at The Oakes when there is no camp running. We would love to welcome you to join us on a regular or occasional basis in either location. Please phone or email the office for more details.

A prayer …

A few weeks ago, this prayer was used at a local church service. We thought it was very appropriate – please use it in your own prayer times if you find it helpful.

“Father, we pray for The Oakes Holiday Centre, as they share the gospel with children and young people.

We thank you for the 14 young team members, serving there during their Gap years, most of whom have recently left a home overseas.

We pray that they would each feel settled and happy at The Oakes, that deep and good friendships would form among the whole team, and that you would use each of them to point others to Jesus and the great news of what he has done for us. As they do that, increase their love for the one they are speaking of and deepen their trust in him.

We thank you for all the camps booked for the year ahead and we pray that you would use them to transform the lives of campers with the power of the gospel. We pray that many would put their trust in Jesus, and for those who don’t, we pray they would leave understanding the gospel more clearly and that seeds planted would come to fruition in your perfect timing and to your glory. Amen.”

  • Praise for the hundreds of faithful supporters who pray for us regularly.
  • Praise for the answers to prayer we see on a daily basis. Please don’t stop praying!
