Have a passion to share Jesus with young people?

Each year we seek a team of 16 fun-loving young adults from all over the world to help us run every aspect of our camps! We wholeheartedly believe that you will grow in your faith and maturity as you pour into the lives of many others. You will develop skills and gain experience in a variety of fields from activity leading to catering to grounds-work. It’s also a ton of fun!

Just want to help out on the odd camp? Join our support team instead (age 15+).

What's Involved?

Lead and mentor a group of campers through all aspects of a camp

Prepare and run a variety of activities, games and events

Create and lead a Bible-based workshop on select camps

Assist behind the scenes with catering and housekeeping tasks

Continually review and improve the camp programme

Three weeks of camp training and team building in September

Obtain qualifications in first aid, food hygiene and open water rescue

Equip yourself for life in our discipleship study days throughout the year

Attend the Bible-Centred Youthworker Conference

And more!

Meet and contribute at morning devotions and monthly prayer meetings

Help run Open Days and other special events

Contribute to the upkeep of the house and grounds on “work days”

Live and serve alongside other like-minded young adults

What can I say? I love my job. Where else can you wake up in a Georgian mansion, jump in 10 foot piles of leaves, shake a few kids off a rope bridge and call it work?

Job Requirements

  • A passion to share the Gospel with young people
  • Aged 18 or above
  • Agreement with our statement of faith
  • Suitability to work with young people (pass a relevant criminal records check)
  • A valid visa for non-EU residents (we will help you process this)

We’d also prefer it if you could join us for a whole year (Sept-Aug), but if you’re only available for part of the year, apply anyway!

The Cost

Everyone on our team is a volunteer – there’s no salary. We will, however, provide you with food, accommodation and training for free. This costs The Oakes approximately £2,400 per year per team member. A donation to The Oakes for part or the entire amount would be gratefully received. It is not a condition for acceptance.

If you are with us in January, we will likely be attending the Bible-Centred Youthworker Conference, highly recommended by past team. We will ask nearer the time that you contribute £100 towards the cost of attending this event.

Transportation and visa costs to get to The Oakes must be paid for by the applicant.

You’ll probably have some questions. Have a look at our Join the Team FAQ page where hopefully we’ll have some answers!

You may also want to consider coming to our next Exploration Day, which is basically an open day for prospective team members. You’ll get to witness a camp in action and talk to current and future team. If it’s already passed, then we’d be happy to arrange for you to visit another time.

So what are you waiting for? Head on over to the team application form and answer some questions!
