This autumn, John Truscott, a church consultant and trainer, interviewed all our permanent team members in order to get an overview and suggest improvements to make to The Oakes even better.
The trustees have now received his verbal feedback and written report and plan to start working through his recommendations in the New Year. Our thanks go to John for helping us with this important review process.

Two years ago, The Oakes switched to seasonal pricing for many of our open camps. This means that from October to February, campers can visit for half price. This decision has significantly increased our winter bookings, enabling more young people to hear the Gospel!
Mid-week school camps continue to grow. In 2018, we welcomed 875 school children, including groups from two new schools. These residentials now account for about half of our annual camps!
Each year we host a spectacular firework event with the local scout group. We provide the venue but they do all the hard work! 300+ came along from the local community this year.
Gap Year Needs
Our current gap year team is the most International we have ever had, with only three Brits out of fourteen!
Unfortunately, some are scheduled to leave us over the next few months, so we would love more team to sign up to join us for the remainder of the year.
We are also recruiting for next year (September 2019 – August 2020). Visit www.oakes.org.uk/team/join for more information.
Dan and three Oakes team travelled to Hungary to help at Acorn Camps at the end of June. The partnership between the two residential ministries continues to grow. Oakes team also helped at the Keswick Convention, Pine Lake (Foundation Matters) and the Abersoch Beach Mission.
Their gap year team has expanded significantly this year with eight living on site. Praise God for them and the impact they are having.
