WORK DAYS

Hello everyone who waits for the next blog to come out. I am Matt and I will be giving you the next insight into what happens at the Oakes when there isn't a camp running.
I will be telling you all about work days, when Tom, the estate manager, gets to take control of the team and sets us to work on different tasks. At the start of the year Tom taught a study afternoon to show the team how working hard is a biblical concept and how when we work hard it is not for our gain but for God's glory. With that in mind the team set to work for the year.

Sun, Sea and Second Comings

Hey there,

Rob here with the next update on Oakes life. After our Easter break, we all went to Llandudno for a few days. It was good to spend some time together relaxing and hanging around at the seaside. We had fun causing chaos in the town on our Photo-challenge (to the right is me being kissed by a granny for one of the tasks) and giving our selves a tour around a Bronze Age copper mine.

Easter Wedding!

Happy Easter from everyone at The Oakes!

I hope everyone all had a great Easter, we all certainly did spending it with friends and family. Most of all I hope you found the time to remember the amazing gift Christ gave to us at Easter! As it’s not just about the chocolate.

I had the privilege of going to the Fulwood Easter celebration which was amazing! The music and atmosphere just reminded me of what we have to praise God for! He’s amazing, isn’t he?

Office Update

Hello one and all!

Well we've had some lovely weather at the Oakes recently and the team had a great opportunity to spend some time out in the countryside on Friday when the whole team went for a walk to a little waterfall called Three Shire's Head. It was a lot of fun to spend time together enjoying the great views and talking about what a great God we have who has done so much for us!

Crazy day camp and Andys Patio!

Hey! :) Life at The Oakes lately has been a blast as per usual - lots of different things going on! We are loving the warmer weather and getting excited for summer, and just as we get our hopes up that the rainy dark days are over, its starts to snow…. Oh well! Anyway, to the point, this Saturday just gone we celebrated Postal Bible Club's 15th birthday. Postal Bible Club is a way for people on Beach Mission in the summer to keep in touch and keep reading their Bibles throughout the year.

CU Weekend

HOWDY!!! :D  Just a quick blog to tell you about life at The Oakes this week. We've just finished a camp and the team have had a great time talking to other christians and encouraging each other in our faith. It was only a short camp but I felt like I learnt so much from the team, the campers and myself. It was also great to play so many sports like football, basketball and frisbee and some Oakes games like Captain Splodge and Ultimate Sock Dodge.

Youth Worker Conference and Dads and Lads Camp

This week the team went away to London for a youth workers conference. We were all really looking forward to going and it didn't disappoint us. We heard a lot of great teaching in the meetings and the seminars and got to understand more about God and his character and what he has done for us. It was also really cool to meet loads of other youth workers from around the country that are all doing the same thing as us - telling young people the good news of Jesus Christ.

Open Day

We have been busy at the Oakes getting back into the swing of things with the Open Day last Saturday and our first camp of the New Year coming up this weekend! A lot of work went into preparing for the Open Day, but it was well worth it. There were delicious cakes made by our amazing kitchen and tea and coffee served alongside. It was great to see how many people (around 120) attended the three sessions that were held throughout the day. Definitely some new faces which is encouraging because more and more people will know about the Oakes and can hear the gospel!

New Year at the Oakes

We have been back in action at the Oakes for a few days now, reviewing and planning the upcoming year (specifically focusing on brainstorming ideas for the Olympic summer theme). If you have any ideas on transforming the house or on some crazy new game, post it below! The team has been doing a great job at putting together some ideas.
